Men's Basketball Adds Two for 2008-09

Dane Fife adds two more players for 2008-09

April 17, 2008

Fort Wayne, IN - IPFW head men's basketball coach Dane Fife has announced the signing of two more players to national letters of intent to play for the Mastodons next season.

Nick Daniels is a 6'2", 190 lb. wing player from Highland Community College in Freeport, Illinois.

Daniels was part of a Highland squad that went 29-4 and won the 2007-08 Region 4 Championship.  He is also one of five players from that team to sign to play at the Division I level next year.  Last season, Daniels averaged 6.0 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.2 assists a game.

"Nick is a tough minded, physical defender who can score when called upon to do so," Coach Fife said.

"He is coming from a great program at Highland C.C. and has been coached by one of the best in Pete Norman, who not only does a great job of coaching his team but preparing them for their future careers at four-year institutions."

Demond Dedeaux is a 5'10", 160 lb. guard from O.P. Walker High School in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Dedeaux's team finished as the runner-up in the Louisiana 4A State Championship game last season.

He averaged 13 points, seven assists, and four steals a game.

According to Coach Fife, "Demond loves to compete!"

"He is a pesky ball defender who has the ability to disrupt opposing point guards for 94-feet and brings great leadership qualities to IPFW."

"Nick and Demond immediately increase our overall team speed and ability to defend the basketball.  I believe that they are going to compliment our returning players well, and we expect big things from both of them when they arrive on campus."

Daniels and Dedeaux will join transfers Deilvez Yearby and Aaron Richie, as well as, early signees Trey McCorkle and John Peckinpaugh on next year's squad.
