Fort Wayne, IN - The IPFW men's tennis team shook off a slow start to the 2008 portion of the season, winning three out of four matches this weekend at the Pine Ridge Racquet Club.

Friday's weekend opener saw the 'Dons top Niagara by the final of, 5-2.  The only blemish of the weekend set came on Friday night as the Mastodons were beaten by a strong UW-Green Bay squad, 6-1.

IPFW came back with vengeance on Saturday, shutting out Saint Francis (PA), 7-0 and then pulling out a close match over Cleveland State at night, 4-3.

Senior Nathan Jones put up some impressive numbers in the four matches.  Jones was 7-1 overall.  He was, 3-1 in singles with wins over St. Francis, Niagara and Chicago State.

In doubles he was a perfect 4-0.  Jones was 3-0 at No. 1 doubles with Nabil Filho with wins over Wisconsin-Green Bay, St. Francis, and Chicago State. He was 1-0 with Francisco Sigaud at No. 3 doubles with a win over Niagara.

With the wins, IPFW improves to 4-6.

The Mastodons return to action on Saturday afternoon, hosting Lipscomb at 3:00 p.m. at Pine Ridge.
