Fort Wayne, IN - IPFW women's soccer coach Margaret Saurin has named her team captains for the upcoming 2008 season.

The second year coach has named senior midfielder Heather Currie and sophomore defender Tammi Kerr as co-captain.

"I am excited to have such great leadership for our team," Saurin said.

"It has been an important part of our journey this spring. We have worked hard on the field, in the weight room, in the class room, and have focused a lot of time on team building. I believe this has helped team chemistry and allowed Heather and Tammi to stand out as the leaders of our team. I am looking forward to their leadership on the field in the fall."

"I am excited to have the responsibility to lead our 13 freshmen into a brand new beginning," Currie noted.

Her comments were echoed by Kerr.

"The program is looking bright with the existing players returning next year joining forces with our talented recruiting class for Fall 2008," she said.  "I am excited to bring my experience from last year forward to this new era in IPFW women's soccer."

Saurin was forced to play with a limited roster in 2007 because of her late arrival from the University of Akron.  With a full incoming recruiting class, Saurin and the Mastodons will look to improve greatly on last year's 1-7 mark in The Summit League.
