Mike Fruchey enters his fourth season as the Head Women's Track and Field Coach at IPFW.

Prior to his appointment as head coach, he had been an assistant coach with the program since its inception in 1999, specializing in the distance events. Fruchey is a Fort Wayne native and graduated in 1987 from Carroll High School.

Fruchey attended Taylor University, earning a Bachelors of Science degree in Physics in 1991. While at Taylor, Fruchey qualified for two NAIA national cross-country meets and two NAIA national track meets. As a senior, Fruchey was voted MVP for both the cross-country and track teams.

After finishing his undergraduate degree, Coach Fruchey earned a graduate teaching assistantship from Ball State University and completed a Master of Arts degree in Physics in 1993. At Ball State, Fruchey served as a volunteer assistant cross-country coach at Taylor University.

In the short time Fruchey has been at IPFW, his squads have improved steadily, easily meeting his goal of breaking 50% of the school records each year.

Coach Fruchey has attained USA Track and Field Level II Coaching Certifications in Endurance, Throwing, and Sprints/Hurdles/Relays.
