Summit League Fall Academic All-League Team Announced



IPFW places 36 on Fall Academic All-League Team

Elmhurst, IL - With the first semester of the 2007-08 academic year in the books, The Summit League has announced its Academic All-League Teams for the fall season. A total of 423 Summit League student-athletes from the sports of men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer and volleyball have been honored for their academic excellence.

Western Illinois led the way with a league-best 62 selections to the Academic All-Summit League squad, edging out Oakland, which had 61. South Dakota State landed 53 student-athletes on the team, followed by Oral Roberts and IUPUI with 44 and 42, respectively. Centenary (37 recipients), IPFW (36 recipients), UMKC (34 recipients), North Dakota State (33 recipients) and Southern Utah (21 recipients) also had student-athletes recognized for their academic achievements.

Of the 423 student-athletes that were honored, 35 posted perfect 4.00 grade-point averages during the fall semester. In order to be selected to the Academic All-Summit League Team, a student-athlete must have a 3.00 or better grade-point average in the semester in which they compete and must use a year of eligibility.
